My RIRs lay a mini egg every once in a while ... learned it's called a "fart egg".  When I cracked it open it did not have a yolk.

Silkies don't lay brown eggs.  Welcome to BYC

i got one of those not too long ago.

There IS an egg in that compartment!

Imagine my surprise when I opened it and it wasn't a fart egg, but a perfectly formed little egg with a beautiful (but tiny) yolk, a nice inner yolk and the outer yolk. The chalazae (and I'm sure I spelled that wrong!) was almost bigger then the whole thing!  None of my chickens are young, new layers so it was a bit of a shocker.  Almost missed it in the nest completely!

I had chickens for two years before one of mine laid one of those tiny little eggs.
