I went to collect eggs from my pens yesterday and found a very cracked egg with no markings and blue in color. This group just started laying, so I thought it was a fluke....buuut I Went out to collect eggs this morning and much to my surprise/delight, I found 2 more Celadon Eggs! One was cracked so the dogs got it, but the other one was good. I'm so thrilled! I've been wanting birds with the Ce gene for ages, but didn't realize that I already had them lol! The group producing the blues all hatched from a pen of 1 male and 3 hens. The eggs were sent to me by a friend for size, and all the eggs I received were typical color. I didn't at all expect blue eggs from them! My friend hasn't mentioned blue eggs from his birds, but he hasn't hatched and bred any from that particular group. Hopefully I'll find more blue eggs tomorrow and get a hatch going! I'd like to introduce the gene into my Silver line. The group producing the blues are all wild type and dilutes. GREAT size on them, I'm just hoping egg size increases as they lay more. I ALMOST sold this group the other day but changed my mind just in time! Attached is a pic of a normal egg, the Celadon Egg, and a blue speckled egg. All from different pens. The blue speckled egg was the first egg one of my young silvers laid...so its pretty tiny. I've had 20g+ eggs from the same line!
