Trouble introducing 3 yr old hen to 9 week old pullets

...But maybe they have facilities more conducive to integration there....

Yes they have a lot of acreage and more than one area for their hens so they are more equipped to take the time to integrate than I am. Also, we are leaving for vacation next week and my chicken sitter is likely not going to be here in time to separate them before bed and won't be here during the day.

Spoke with my cousin again yesterday morning and we agreed that it was best for Betty and the babies if she went home. He came and picked her up last night after he got off work and took her home.

So far all is well there and my babies seem to be at peace and happy. This is a lesson learned for me and next time I get new ones I'll know how to handle it.
I'm upset with myself that this lesson had to be at the expense of the birds but it is what it is and I can't go back

Thanks for all the support, I appreciate it. Best of cluck to you as well

Good call.....sorry you had to give up Betty.
Chicken keeping can be time intensive and disappointing....lots of lessons..

Its not so much they will forget her its becuase new ranks were established and they are very serious about heirarchy.

There is no reason to send her back, she is just doing what most hens do to get things situated.
