I need some serious help and advice! Two of my chicks hatched earlier today without trouble. But when I took them out of the incubator to put them in the brooder their feathers were all dried up. I took them out and separated them from the more active chicks but they seem extremely weak... I'm really worried about them eating and/or drinking. Also, one of them is not opening its eyes. I'm able to touch them and open them but she/he won't do it itself. PLEASE HELP! I can't watch them struggle and want to do whatever I can to help them! ADVICE?! I've incubated and hatched before and never ever had this problem. I didn't change anything as far as temp or humidity compared to the past chicks I've hatched! I don't know what to do!

Could you try giving some sugar water to them ? Other's also say vitamins/electrolytes for chickens but if you don't have those I think sugar will be fine for a few hours, not for too long as it causes constipation and you don't want them blocked up Hopefully it will give them some energy to eat some real food and water.

I've read that it is 1 teaspoon per quart which is just over a litre.

Tell me how your chicks get on.
