Hello BYC!
I have some questions that hopefully someone may be able to answer.
Earlier in February of this year I purchased a pair Cemani from a "breeder" that I found on eBay selling eggs. I paid $230 for a 3 month old pair. When I opened the box I noticed the roo had a lot of white feathers, light skin and his comb a really dark red. I immediately contacted the seller and he assured me that all that would change once he got older and started to molt.
I recently contacted him bc the hen stared laying and wasn't sure what to look for when culling the offsprings.. He told me " anything with color is no good". I immediately asked about my roo that he sold me. He said my roo was good to breed bc he's still purebred. He said "you will want to call his generation his offspring will be good and sub him out for a perfect rooster"
After doing some research on here I've read someone write that in all her years of breeding cemani she has never seen an all black chick. Someone else wrote that color was ok and would darken with time.
Really not sure what to think but I don't want to waste my time trying to breed the perfect Cemani if I don't have the correct roo.
I will try and post a picture of him but am having a hard time.
Thanks in advance
