I have a very large white Plymouth rooster and a blue laced Wyandotte rooster. When they fight... The Wyandotte always comes out on top but yet my rock is king of the coop. Can anyone explain this to me?
 
Your observation of these two when they brawl is subjective. Obviously, they each see their relative ranks differently than you do.

Rank is something agreed upon between the two roos, not something decided by who's the biggest and most brutish and who appears to win the fight.

It's sort of like two guys deciding one will be leader, even though the one elected lost the fight.
