Hi I'm a total newbe to chickens and the duck world! I was wondering If i get two ducks, a Pekin and a Cayuga if they will get along together! I am curious to see what people think are the friendliest breeds! Can ducks and chickens live together and get along?

My chickens and ducks get along but they were raised together. Also, my parents would buy ducks of varying breeds and they seemed to get along great. Good luck! I'm new to this site as well!

HI there! Welcome to BYC! I have 2 pekin ducks, 6 buff orpingtons and 2 barred rocks. My chickens are in a separate coop from the ducks per personal choice. The pekins are very friendly! If you get ducklings be prepared for mess, mess, mess...and stinky haha. Your babies, whether chicks or ducks will need a brood box. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have

Feel free to send a private message to me with questions or feel free to hop on any of our forums. Again, welcome and enjoy the feathered friends!

You may want to check out the duck thread for more information. I think they can free range together but, if ducks and chickens share a coop - ducks like to splash and make a mess, chickens can get chilled if wet. Better if they have their own coops to come back to.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best
