Covering coop windows

We just finished our coop. It has vinyl siding and the windows are about 6 ft off the ground. My husband thinks we don't need to use wire over the windows because he doesn't think anything can climb the siding. I need to know what all of you think. Also, my chicks and ducks are 6 weeks old. Do I need to leave any windows open at night for ventilation? It's in the 50s at night right now.

Everything can climb the siding. Cover the Windows. Don't leave them open for ventilation until they are protected by hardware cloth or some other kind of wire (not chicken wire).

I agree with Weehopper^^^ never underestimate a hungry predator. Raccoons, weasels, rats, mink will easily get in an open window. Cover with 1/2" hardware cloth. Don't just staple it in place, use fender washers and screws.
