Experience with California Quails

We are breeding California quail now. But the hatching rate is very low. Sometimes as low as 20%. And the chicks are easily to die. Has anybody here got the experience of hatching and raising California quails? We can share our experiences.

I feed them Purina feeds. I breed them with a separate brooder from Japanese quails.

Purina feeds what? They need a gamebird feed. Are their cages side by side with no sight barrier?

The problem is, the young ones die. Many of them seem not to be able to poo.

He said "Yes, Purina game bird feed".

Which would to me mean "Gamebird & Turkey Startena"

http://www.purinamills.com/chicken-feed/products/gamebird-turkey-startena/

But I guess it could be the layena or flight conditioning or "breeder" or finisher or maintenance varieties.....who knew there were so many.
