I don't want to leave my chicks inside all day, but I can't let them free range because I already lost two. I feel so stupid that I didn't stop letting them out after I lost the first one. Anyways I have a decent size outdoor run that is completely covered in welded wire on the sides and chicken wire across the top. I want to leave them out there during the day, but I will have to block the door back to the inside coop because I have to let the big hens in and out for nesting and all that stuff. Part of the outdoor run does have a roof that would block them from rain. They are about 4 weeks old. If it is going to be a warm day around 70 do you think it would be ok to keep them out there all day. I have to work so I will be gone 9 hours. Otherwise i will leave them in all day and let them out when I get home for a couple hours before dark.

if you can provide an adequate shelter from the sun and any rain they will do fine as long as it's warm enough out for their age.
