Can moving cause shock?

My chicks (9 of them - black langshans, austrolorps, dorkings and an EE) are about 3 weeks old. They were living in a chick starter in our bathroom but they were getting too big for it - tripping over each other, etc. So yesterday we moved them to the outside coop.
We (well, my husband - give credit where credit is due!) built a coop that is about 8x8. It's insulated, and has a window. I put in 4 apple crates and made a ladder from branches to roost. They have plenty of food and water.

Since we moved them, 7 or 8 of them are huddled in a back corner... 2 dorkings hang out under the heat lamp. They have barely touched their food or water. Since 1pm yesterday!

Hubby got up about 4 times last night to check on them.... We went in a few times to see them, hang out and talk to them... I think they're lonely. As soon as my kids went in this morning, they were jumping all over them and went out to eat. I put in some romaine ripped up in little pieces and then put a radio in the coop for them to have some company.

We are worried about them. Any tips? We both work full time, so hanging out in the coop all day isn't an option -although I would love to jig work to do so

I think they will be alright. On the most part your chick will tell you what's going on if you take a step back and observe. If they are close normally mean they need more heat and just the opposite when they stay far apart. In addition, you have to teach them just like kids. Show them what to do and they will do it and if you don't they will huddle in one spot to get warm instead of going to the heat source. Good luck.

Chickens generally do not like change - and this is a big one for them. They will be fine in a couple of days, I'm sure.
