What Type of Heating Lamp do Cayugas Need?

I heard that 100 watt works for most duckling but I was wondering if Cayugas need less because of their dark plumage?

I've raised two batches of cayuga ducklings.

The first year i used http://www.brinsea.com/p-375-ecoglow-20-chick-brooder.aspx

This year i'm using http://www.brinsea.com/p-381-ecoglow-50-chick-brooder.aspx

I had to get a new one this year because the small one wouldn't turn on  this year when I was prepping for my  next batch of ducklings.  It was way too big for my needs but the only brinsea I could get locally.

I live in farm house that's being renovated while we live in it.  It is cold inside  and until all renovations are done we have to rely on electric heating only in most of the house.  Both batches were raised in the same year.  Batch one had 4 ducklings. Batch two had 3 ducklings.

Neither one of those heat sources let you set a temperature.  They're low energy use and just radiate heat  from above.

Both batches grew up healthy and happy.  I did have a few instances of ducklings getting too warm under the larger  brooder this year. But with the adjustable legs I just raised it up even higher.

I didn't have any cold behavior from them.. huddling, lethargy etc.
