This is Henny Penny and Foxbait. They are chicks that I "inherited" from a fellow school mom. Bought as pullets but I have come to find out that the feed stores aren't always correct in their determination.
I have a smaller Buff chick that is about 2 weeks younger than these two and she has long tail feathers, sweet personality, and very yellow comb.
This is Foxbait from the side view. See how he or she has some tail feathers? Oh, and Henny Penny is admiring herself/himself in the mirror. Yes, they are vain!
Miss Pip our first Buff chick. She's the beautiful one. Kinda like those kids that don't get acne and have perfect hair and teeth. Yup, she's the chicken version.
Foxbait again from the backside. See the tail feathers? But not as long as my other girls.
Foxbait and Henny Penny again. Henny Penny (Rooster Brewster?) has more of the rooster stance. Ugh, not supposed to have roos! Nobody has crowed yet, so we are hoping for the best!
Foxbait (she came pre-named!) this was about two weeks ago maybe....
And here is Foxbait over the weekend. Miss Pip (the perfect chick) is behind her and then our Barred Rock (I think).
These I threw in for those who enjoy chick pics. I have three older hens that are about 2 months old. The "new" chicks are taking over their spot. See that support bar to the right of the buffs on the top row. That narrow spot? Yup, my three older hens sleep up there with their faces in the wall. Have since the second day they slept in the coop. Chickens can be the weirdest people! The three on the bottom are the youngest hens we have. Duchess (our Silver Laced Wyandotte and my hubby's little sweetheart), Miss Pip (see she is pretty in every picture so unlike I was!) and Lola (the Barred Rock).
The middle girls (or boys?). They have had reddish combs since at least 4 weeks old. Our flock may dwindle to 6 girls if they start to crow.
Anyone with any ideas, feel free to help. We had three roosters from a straight run of six we already had to rehome. Hoping to keep these but can only have hens.
