This is my button quail I hatched myself. Photos are from when he was 1 week old to when he was 10 weeks old. Could anyone tell me if this is what they call "darth vader" please, and is the female a similar colour, as I am trying to hatch a mate for him.

Sure he's just a day old in the first pic? Looks more like a week to me..
Anyway, I don't really get the point of the 'Darth Vader' thing, but as far as I have been able to figure out, it's just a name for the combination of the red breasted and golden pearl mutations. I'm not really good at recognizing the golden pearl mutation, but yours is at least red breasted. Red breasted females are actually quite different from the males. Their head is quite dark, but the rest of the body has a lighter base color than the wild colored ones - I think they are very attractive. The female in this picture is red breasted:

Sorry, yes he was a week old, I've changed it now. He was trying to get out of his shell for 3 hours, so I had to help him. Looked at the pic of the female, I thought the female would look just like the male for some reason, but without the bib and rust coloured vent feathers, I hatched one that colour in the pic, I wish I'd have posted before, because I'm sure it was a female.
