Chicken making a funny sound

Hi, my chicken is just over 12 weeks (12 weeks and 2 days) and it's just starting making a funny honking sound kind of like a goose!!!! Just started on Saturday. Only a few "honks" then nothing
Any ideas???

Some of them just make that sound.  I had a Cuckoo Marans that only made the honking noise, and no regular chicken noises for the better part of a year.  She eventually started making more typical chicken noises, but she would still honk every once in awhile.  Some of them just like to be different, I guess.

Oooooo thank you that's interesting. Being still young I havnt sexed them yet , I hope it doesn't mean a cockerel

That honking stage cracks me up....in the period between cheeping and clucking.

Nothing to worry about.

 

Do you only have one bird?

Gender is usually pretty obvious by 5-6 weeks on most breeds.

I have 4. The honking one is a brown Sussex and the others are silkies and a peking

That looks like a cockerel to me...strong red for 12 weeks.
