I want to buy some (possibly silkie mix or red cochin bantam) chicks and place them under a broody game hen(the eggs she has

aren't fertile). The thing is shes been broody for about two or three days now. Do I have to wait 3 weeks to put the chicks under since that is around the time the eggs usually hatch:jumpy?

Good question. I didn't think about trying that with my girls. Maybe next time. Shhh. Don't tell my husband I said that.
My girls names are: Celestia, Nightmare Moon, Torchic and we lost Alucard. That's right they are from My Little Pony, Pokeman, and Hellsing.

:lol:Alrighty then! I have replaced in infertile eggs with baby chicks before, but it was around the time the eggs were supposed to hatch.

I even asked a question before I did that just to make sure if it was safe or not http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1019116/switching-hens-eggs-with-chicks

21 to 25 days, too early she will not be pleasant, she'll reject them and hurt
them. It works like a charm, I put the little once in at night, they have the problem with her in the morning, it takes a little while for them to accept her but they always have for me. The chicks I use are from the feed store at least 3 days old, they never had a mommy but after awhile they adopt her.

So since my hen became broody on May 9 I will have to put them in around...27th-30th?
