12 birds, 3 breeds, 4year old flock.
1st bird barred rock healthy all weekend, Monday fine in morning came home after work and she was hiding in corner of coop, lethargic, not eating or drinking, clear fluids coming from beak and nostrils, then began convulsing within twenty minutes and then passed away.
2nd bird red sex link, healthy all day wednesday while free ranging, at dusk found her under porch lethargic, not standing at all, small amt of fluid from beak, watery poop, did take probiotic water, seems stronger, put in separate coop for the night
3rd bird is a barred rock, she was free ranging, went home early and laid down in nesting instead of perching, seems slightly lethargic
two symptoms common to all three are...crop seems liquidy filled and squishy and their combs turned purple
Any known issues that could have caused this were that they were caught eating styrofoam and some grass seed on saturday, otherwise no changes in habitat, food, water, environment that I know of.
Can not find a local vet that deals with poultry. Don't know what to do, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
