This 2 week old chick has wing bones that are high up on its back. Her wings that are spread out & fanned upward. When she's sleeping they stick straight up in the air. I've never seen this before. Anybody out there familiar with this?

I've not seen wings that high up before so I hope someone else comes along who can explain this.
Maybe a deformity, genetic or as she was developing in the egg? :idunno

She looks like she could be a frizzle with feathers growing like that.

Thanks for the reply. I've never seen anything like it either. Its not just her wings, her body shape is slightly different than any other chick I've ever had & she feels strong when I'm holding her (that sounds ridiculous, I don't know how else to describe it.) I've had my nose crammed in the computer for more than a week looking for anything that might give me a clue, but I'm at a total loss.

Is it just feathers or can you feel wing bones? I've heard of some defect called "angel wings," maybe that's what this is.

There are wing bones. Its the weirdest thing. When you pull her wings out its almost like theres a double joint in there. The only thing I can relate it to is like a frozen thanksgiving turkey... Oh dear God, I'd better go see what baby turkeys look like.

Goodness I never thought of that

I'm not a turkey person so that never crossed my mind. What were they sold to you as?

It never crossed my mind either until I typed it. They were sold to me as day old sexed Cream Legbar pullets, but this one never had the chipmonk stripes like the other two do. Besides her odd wings & shape, shes also bigger & stronger than the other two. I was worried at first that she might be a cockerel, but she never had the telltale white/yellow dot on her head (she was hatched with a distinct black dot on her head.) When her wings started going crazy, we thought maybe it was Angel Wing, but that seemed to be more of a duck thing. I will keep researching. In the meantime, I welcome any suggestions.
