My coworker gave me 12 eggs to try and hatch. He is not sure of the breed except the one rooster is a leghorn and a couple are easter eggers. No idea on the brown ones. How do you choose which eggs are the best?

Freshest is best.. but you don't know? Cleanest would be good..
If you want green egg layers.. go for those green ones..
Not sure what all breeds he has.. my orpington lays tan eggs.. so if you like those choose the light tan ones.. rhode island red usally lays darker brown. . So if you like those more ... I really can't help without knowing breeds... but seems like the green eggs would be a good choice to start

Thanks! What would lay pink eggs. There are three that are pinkish brown. Very light. Do imperfections on the egg or spottyness matter?

Good thinking you could check for cracks .. don't do those..
My black langshan layed kinda of a pink egg.. EE are known for that too.. but if you want easter eggers id just go for the green ones and the darker brown ones for brown layers

I candled them and disgarded "wishy washy" ones. I am assuming the insides shouldnt slosh around inside? Only 1 of my green ones seemed ok. So 1 green, 3 brown and 3 pink.
