broken leg

Hello,

A few days ago, I noticed my guinea hen hopping around on one foot. We captured her and put her in a dog crate. Upon first inspection, I thought a sprain or of the like. A day later after she calmed down. I reinspected her leg. It appears to be broken. I made a temporary splint and clean area. Scales were damaged too. Today, I went to re splint with a better splint. Scales had a green slime on them. I washed and applied vetrycyn on it. Then wrapped in gauze and resplinted. Is the green stuff infection or body fluid to help scales heal? If infection, what antibiotic ahould be given? And treatmen for wound? Leg must be covered by splint. It was a full break of leg. She is eating, drinking and feisty.

Sorry no one replied. It sounds like infection. How is it doing?

Japanese, OEG, Sebright, Brahmn, d'Uccle, and EE bantams; and RIR, BR, and EEs, Golden Penciled Hamburg, EEs, Anconas, Bielefelders, Wheaten Marans, Speckled Sussex, and a surprise variety of bantams with breeds tbd!

16 guineas and 2 turkeys to round out the flock

Another victim of poultry math. Aiming for a "designer" flock and egg basket :)
