Small rooster not eating much

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help! We have an allotment and about 4 weeks ago when we went down someone had put a small rooster in our garden. We decided to keep him and he's been no bother, gets a long with our 4 other hens.

We have just noticed that at food time, he doesn't seem to eat. He makes a lot of noise and takes the food from us but then let's the hens steal it out of his mouth most of the time. I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but he's our first rooster... Is this normal? Or should we be looking to feed him separately? He seems to let the hens bully him, there's no pecking involved but they sometimes knock him out of their way if they are running over to one of us. He's so cute but want to make sure we are doing the right thing by him! Thanks

:welcome  He is doing what a 'gentleman' rooster is supposed to do - putting his hens first.

Just wanted to chime in... my little bantam frizzle cochin is like that too. I have barely seen him eat and he always "tidbits" and feeds his ladies... he is a super sweet little guy smile.pngsmile.png
