Dry feathers

My ducks usually have the softness feathers but last two days they been dry?Should I be worried?What to do,any suggestions would be great!? They are all acting fine eating drinking etc.

are they adults or ducklings have they been preening going into the water?

They are 10 months old,they preen alot but they haven't spent as much tine in water as usual last few days..Could that be why, perhaps get them out more into the water especially with warmer weather?

I have a couple of ducklings and I've noticed that when they are in the water more it feels like their feathers are dryer my guess is the oils wear off in the water, you could try rubbing some coconut oil over your hands and then petting them all over to spread it, it won't hurt them and it might help the dry feather problem, I know when chickens are washed(like if they've had to be washed for a show or if they start getting poopy feathers) that you have to put a little oil back on because you have rinsed off their oils.

Hmm interesting I will give it a try them,what do I got to loose.Also didn't know that about chickens and I've bathed my girls before because I don't like them bieng messy. I assume use same oil on chickens?

You can use coconut oil on chickens but it's not necessary (:.
