Will a broody hen "adopt" chicks hatched in an incubator??

I have a hen who has been sitting on eggs for 4 weeks with no sign of hatching any time soon.  I have 4 chicks that were hatched in an incubator 4 days ago.  What are the odds I could slip these babies under the mamma and have her raise them as her own?

Every chance that she will but do it as soon as possible while they are still small. I would recomend you add the chicks gently under her at night when it's dark. Your hen and the chicks should be relaxed and quiet at this time. Once you have added them just wait to make sure she and the chicks are settled and she is not attacking them. If all is quiet I would leave them with her and go back first thing in the morning to check. Fingers crossed she should come off the nest to show them the food and water.

Good luck fl.gif
