Holly, MI
Hi my name is Paul, I live in Holly, MI. I am married with count them, 9 kids. Only six still at home. they range from 6-20 in age. No they are not all mine biologically. I had 4, my wife had 3' then the mother of my oldest daughter lost her other 2 kids to the state. In order to keep the siblings together we adopted them. We also have 3 large dogs.

This year around Easter my wife got the impulsive idea to get chickens. (I wanted the Ducks) so we got 8 chicks and 2 ducks from this family farm and home store in Fenton the next town over from us. 2 weeks later while buying some materials for the coop and run I was building she decided to get 2 more. For those keeping count that is 10 chicks and 2 ducks total. (although we lost one of the original 8 so we are down to 9 chicks)

Snowball

Rosetta (Probably spelled that wrong)

Shadow

Junior

Angel

Ruffles

Red

Rosey

Quackers

Daisy or Donald (depends on if it male or female)

Shadow (left) Feathers (right)

the coop and run I built

Ducks even have a pond

the first 8 and the ducks when we first brought them home

if anyone can tel me what breed of ducks we got it would be great. I think the darker one is a rouen and the lighter a kc, or they could be mixed, or possible even a different breed all together. thank you for your time. hopefully I can make some new friends here.

Hi Paul and
welcome-byc.gif
- great to have you onboard with us. Many thanks for the introduction and the pics! We are a friendly bunch, so making friends here is very easy! For the duck IDs, I'd suggesting posting your pics on the "duck" forum, and for the chicks (should you wish), post on the "what breed or gender is this" forum.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre
https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread

All the best

Hi Paul, nice to meet you. You can always post clear photos of your birds at "what breed or gender is this." For ducks post on the "Duck thread." I think your brown one is a Khaki Campbell - only because a lot of duck people have been coming through this forum during the week. Color looks familiar.

I believe your BR Shadow is cockerel due to his wider white areas and grayish barring, yellow feet. Ruffles may also be a male because of red coloring coming in over the wings ( a strongly male trait).

Others will be along to give you their views - Welcome to Backyard chickens, glad you joined the flock
