80% Pine 20% Fir shavings? Are these ok?

I've been using hay in my coop, but have a couple picky layers she was going to try some nice pine shavings in a couple of the nesting boxes to see if it makes my girls happy. I asked for pine, but apparently they sell a product that is and 80/20 mix of pine and fir. Is this going to be ok to use????

I don't see a problem. The only concerns are with aromatic Eastern Red Cedar or hardwood shavings that can grow fungus.

i think it should be fine

 

you can check your local wal-mart

 

i got pine shavings from them..  used shredded paper before the switch

 

with pine shavings

 

- little dust

- odor and moisture control
