You need to make the coop fox and hawk proof is all. Think dig proof apron and 2x4 welded wire 14 gauge. Fox can't chew through 14 gauge, with a cover on the run, actual roof or 2x4 welded wire no hawk is getting in. To dig proof take said welded wire and cut lenghts 18-24 inches wide to lay flat from run wall out. Ether stake it and let grass grow or lift sod and lay under it. Ta Da! Fox and hawk proof run. It will also be effective for raccoon, neighbors dogs, coyote, fisher cat, skunks.....long list of things that like chicken.

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

To keep out the No.1 predator - raccoons,  you need a smaller mesh size  -  like 1/2" hardware cloth so raccoons cannot reach through and bite off any body part they can reach. You can have the hardware cloth backing your fence wire and running from ground up  18"-24" to protect from grabby raccoons
