I have 2 BR chicks that have runny poop for many weeks now. They are about 6 weeks old and now its getting very warm they stay in the garage in a cage with window open and fan on. Poop has always been runny and they drink alot of water even when it was chilly outside. Is there a problem?

You live in the south so they may just be drinking because they need water. What have the temperatures been running? In a garage, the temperature could get hot. A thermometer on the wall may help. Watery poops can occur when chickens drink lots of water. Probiotics, such as Probios, or a little plain yogurt added to the feed may helpto promote good intestinal health. If any look lethargic, hunched, or are not eating, then coccidiosis can be a problem. That is treated with Corid (amprollium) in the water for 5 days.

Thanks for replying.

It has been close to 90 degrees lately but even when it was in the 60's they still had runny poop. I just thought it might be a suckness. I keep a fan on them and no they aren't lethargic.

Twice a week mine get 5 pieces of bread between 11 hens. It helps to firm up droppings. Also, worm at monthy basis. I also feed soaked oats for help replacing bad bacteria as well as build up immune system. I buy Flora and crush a tablet daily and give in gen pop feed. After a week, I decrease to once a week. And yes.... Water. Mine are drinking too. Bought new baby pools today as well to keep them cooler. Heat stress in my Fl area affects their dropping consistency... Hope this help.
