I call "her" Opal, born 3/18 can anyone tell if she's a pullet or roo? She's my first silkie!

I also have a flock of 7 hens, I've been letting opal out in the yard while I'm outside and call the girls over so they get used to seeing her around. Is there anything else i can do to make integrating them easier when she's ready to go in the coop?

Thank you!

It is really too early to tell...silkies are notoriously difficult to sex. If I had to guess, I'd predict male, based solely on the Don King looking crest coming in. It seems to me that a female's crest would come in more evenly, if if just a small crest. Sorry to say, only time will tell.

My only advice is to monitor, monitor, monitor when you do add your silkie to the pen. Silkies are pretty docile, and between that and their smaller size (at least if your other birds are standard size), they tend to get bullied if new to a flock.

Hi, Thank you. Im going to wait until she/he is bigger. I was going to add something in the coop only she can get into. So if she's being bullied she can get away. I'm so nervous though. My hens are docile but this is my first time having to integrate. I had 3 silkies but 2 passed...it was very sad. Anyway thank you for the advice!
