I have 16 Araucana hens approximately 2 years old, last summer I was getting approximately 12 to 14 eggs a day, they started molting in November and through the winter, as far as I can tell, most of my hens are through molting with the exception of a couple, my egg production picked back up to about 6 to 8 eggs a day. I figured that since I had 16 hens that they were alternating days of laying. I have early layers that lay one day and late layers that lay the next. This is May and I have not recovered my egg production. I am now getting from 4 to 6 eggs a day and at times only 2. I have not changed my feed or anything else, they all seem happy and are just like they have always been, I do have one hen that is molting-has been since October- but she is laying one egg a day and has been for a couple of months- strange. Not sure why I am still short 2 to 4 eggs a day, let alone the production I was getting last year. I did get 6 new chicks about 2 months ago and integrated them into my flock, but there seems to be no aggression from the other hens.
