Chickens for free in OHIO

Chickens have this bad habit of hatching more roosters then hens. I've been working on a breeding project for over a year now and have a few too many roosters from it. Some of them are just so handsome that I wanted to give them a chance to find another home. I like all my roosters, but it simply isn't healthy for my flock to have too many per hen, so I'm cutting down on their numbers.

These guys are available to anyone who can meet us up to two hours away from Marysville in Ohio. We can't ship because of the cost and legality, but we are willing to meet people half-way to enable a longer distance.

No, you don't have to take all these roosters, if one catches your fancy, just say so and we can bring him to you. Thanks so much for considering.


Bubs is a 1 year-old Buff Brahma Rooster from McMurray Hatchery. He was hand-raised by me but does not enjoy being handled. However, he is also not aggressive and enjoys treats. He is very handsome and a good father.







Dastan is a Silkie, Old English Game, Sebright mix rooster and around 1 year-old as well. He was raised by his mother but also enjoys coming for treats and is a good father. He is around the size of a silkie rooster with five toes. He is white but has spots on the skin of his legs (from paint genes).




Rain is a Blue Silkie crossed with the above roosters sister. He is around 10 weeks of age and was raised by his mother but has been handled, though with age he is more skittish. He has a crest and silkied feathers but his legs are free of feathering, which makes him less likely to get leg mites or muddy feet.


Noel is Rain's brother. He is around 5-6 months of age (hatched the day after Christmas) but doesn't get along with our other roosters. He has a slight limp from being bullied, but is otherwise beautiful, healthy rooster.

I am interested in your young roosters ....well one of them my hens are only 12 weeks or so so I don't want anything older than that are they all still available?

There are a number of young roosters available, just weeks from reaching maturity, fully feathered, and healthy:

Gene, he is part Light Brahma (my guess is his father is the Buff Brahma rooster, Bubs). Gene has just finished feathering in recently and is around 10 weeks of age. I'm pretty certain he is a rooster by his red comb.

Sight is a young rooster mix, likely his mother was a Speckled Sussex. As you can see, he has a mix of partridge feathers as well as speckled feathers. He is developing a roosters tail feathers and sounds. He hatched out this spring and is around 3 months old.

Sight is the one on the right, showing his size compared to Bubs.



Shan (Roshashannah) appears to be a rooster, despite his full name. He is the son of partridge silkie Princess and (most likely) Dastan the silkie mix rooster. He will be large enough to breed most standard hens when he matures (my guess at least) but still around silkie size.


Bubs with his son Buttercream. Buttercream has a crest but is a standard bird, so most likely a cross between Dastan and one of the red hens. Dastan is a bantam and none of my standard roosters (or hens) have crests, which is why I guess he is part bantam himself.

Agent is part Black Giant (or possibly black Andalusian) and likely part Buff Brahma (by the red leakage on his back). He is a very handsome dude with lots of shimmering beetle green on his feathers.

I already posted on your other ad about Autumn. But if Bubs, Agent, Rory or Gene are still available I'd be happy with any of them. Or even two of them that get along well. Thank you!

All four are still available. They have been raised together, so likely they would all get along pretty well, especially if they had enough hens to share. Bubs is a wonderful rooster and in my experience would be okay with his sons growing up in the flock as well (the other three are all his).

The two hens that were posted here found a home.

I'm in Columbus Ohio and can't take roosters, but just discovered that my tiny flock is all Bantams and I fear 6 tiny chickens (although we love them all) won't be able to supply all the eggs we'd like to have, not to mention the eggs my coworkers say they want to buy from me!

Are both ladies good layers? I love the thought of green eggs.

Agent, Dastan, Buttercream and Sight are still available. All of them are healthy but beginning to get frustrated by having so many other roosters, so are constantly chasing and being chased away from food and water. We can't keep them much longer.

Aviator got his name because he nearly jumped out of our hayloft when he was just a few days old, trying to follow his mother. I caught him just before he squeezed out of a crack. Yep, these two like near-death experiences. They're survivors that's for sure. Their mother got caught by a predator, their little brother drowned, their friend got put-down, but they just keep on going no matter what!! Noel is also still available. He is very handsome, we all wish we could keep him, but we ware not breeding for his coloration so he has to find a new home. He has the most unique colors I've ever seen. The poor guy still has a limp from being bullied, though gets around fine. They just don't give him a chance to heal. He needs a good home soon or else we may have to give him over to the stew pot.
