My neighbors rooster has discovered my hens. He is lingering in front of my coop and will not go away. What kind of problems could I expect if I let my girls out? Would he try and bring some of my girls home with him? He only has one hen of his own at his coop. I do not have a rooster in my flock.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I guess he could try and lure them away or he might like to move into your coop!! My main concern would be what if any diseases or parasites he could be bringing to your coop. Please do pop by the behaivour section where I'm sure members will be able to offer you more advice. Good luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock - if it isn't a neighbors rooster, then it's free running dogs, or feral cats. If people would responsibly care for their animals it would really be sweet!

Maybe you could get one of those motion detector sprinklers that shoots out a stream of water. I don't think chickens like to be doused. It won't harm him and may end the problem without fighting with neighbors.
