sexing silkies and rirs?

Thread Starter

about 3 weeks ago, I got 4 silkies from a breeder near me. She said she wouldn't know for sure if they are females until the end of the summer. how can I tell if they are hens or roosters? would it help if I posted a pic of each?

also, is there a way I can tell if my rhode island reds are females? I have 10 total, 2 from a breeder who is 100% sure they're females. The other 8 were ordered from mypetchicken, and supposed to be females. has anybody gotten a mix-up from them?

thanks,

julia

silkies are one of the hardest breeds to determine if their hen or roo at a early age.

I have Bantam welsummers,   Bantam Olive eggers, MGB, LF Welsummers, BCM, BLRW, LF Buff and Golden Laced polish x Tolbunt, LF Sumatras, Bantam Sumatras, d'anvers, CCL, Bantam wyndottes   and bunch of free range birds
