We live in a neighborhood on a pond that has wild ducks. I noticed one limping a few days ago. It doesn't seem like anything is broken. He'll hold it up and in towards his body as much as he can or have it sticking out but tries not to put any pressure on it. Then falls down and stays there eating. I can't see any cuts on his leg. I watched him yesterday evening using binoculars. The part of his foot that meets the leg looked a little swollen but wasn't black or discolored. He seems to be able to swim fine and has left numerous of times and come back. I've been reading a lot on here as to what it could be. Thinking possible bumble foot or a sprain. I'm going to get some brewers yeast this afternoon. We feed them cracked corn so I was going to soak a little in the yeast before giving it to him this evening. He'll let us get close enough to feed but not catch. Is there anything else I can try besides the yeast that doesn't involve catching him to give this little guy a better chance of recovery?
Thanks so much!
