Hello everyone!

My name is Liv, I have 2 chickens, Beau & Maeve. I also have a horse and a dog. Feel free to check out my blog, www.livsbrain.weebly.com. Although, I know tons about dogs and horses, I don't know much about chickens! Help!
How do I know what gender my chickens are?
What is the difference between a rooster and a male chicken?

Hello. Welcome to Backyard Chickens. On how to tell gender I am not an expert at that, Search with the key words 'gender sexing chickens' and see what search results come up. I know there are a lot of folks here who are very knowlegable about that type of thing. Welcome and congrats on your chickens.

Hi Liv and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. You can post pics of your chicks on the What Breed or Gender is This? forum once they are 6 weeks old. A rooster is basically a mature male chicken, when its younger its a cockerel (assuming you are in the states).

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread

All the best
