sexing Silkies

Thread Starter

I ordered 15 Silkie chicks and they will be here in July. They come as a straight run only. They can't sex them at the hatchery because they are too small. At what age can you sex a Silkie and how can you tell the difference between a hen and a rooster?

Usually you can sex them 7 weeks or 3 or 6 months. Pictures will be great if you have any!

Is exited to hatch chicks this spring!

I'm a teen with 25 beautiful chickens and a Wonderful and Almighty God!!! I also have three cats, one fish and four budgies.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Matthew 23:37

X2 and to add, usually the combs/wattles will be bigger on roosters and the "top hat" feathering will be different looking.

As soon as I get the "kids", I'll put some pics on. It won't be until July 6th. The hatchery is having a hard time keeping up with the demand of these little cuties!
