transitioning chicks

Hi! My boyfriend and I are new parents of baby chicks. They are about 5 weeks old now and they are inside in a tote and we just finished their tote. How do we transition them to their coop? They have a coop and a run but they stay together in the corner first time we let them try out their new area. I just need help knowing when to put them in their coop how long to leave them in because they won't go in the coop or come out. Thanks

Chick(en)s tend to be scared of new things. Just put them in the coop with their food/water and let them adjust. Once they figure out that their new situation isn't going to result in them being eaten, they will stop clumping up so much. However, if you are taking them from a very warm tote and putting them in a very cool coop, you may want to transition them slowly to acclimate them to the new temperature.
