We got four chicks last week from a local feed store, two buff orpingtons, one barred rock, and a speckled sussex. I intended on getting all buff orpingtons but was distracted by all of the options and deviated from the plan.

I think I may have scooped up a barred rock rooster not having researched what to look for. Any help confirming?

Yes, roosters will have longer and thinner feathers. Longer tail feathers, hackle feathers (the feathers around the neck) longer saddle feathers, etc. Hens will have rounder and shorter feathers. Roosters will also be a lot more flashier and colorful than hens. At a young age, cockerels (young roosters) will have larger and redder combs/wattles than the pullets (young hens)
Here's some pictures of the difference's:

This is a Old english game bantam rooster, see his shiny and long feathers? Compared to a hen of the same breed:

see their feathers? Maybe if you posted a picture i could give you a for sure answer.

Black wash down the fronts of legs generally points to pullet and yellow legs points to cockerel for barred rocks (although not always; I have three barred rock hens that I've had since day old chicks and one has legs as yellow as the day is long). Also, still too early to be sure for yours, but pullets will have wider bars of black with thin bars of white while cockerels will have wider bars of white with thinner black bars giving them a lighter, sometimes greyer appearance. As her feathers start coming in you should be able to tell.
