Pekin Duck Seizure?

Six weeks ago I bought some pekin ducklings from TSC. They have been happy and perfectly healthy since I got them but today one of my males started acting funny. He was laying by himself sleeping instead of playing in the pool with the others, so I woke him up and got him to walk and he acted dizzy with his head turned a little. After a few minutes he started to shake his head and run around backwards like a bug was biting him or something.

When he calmed down I held him and tried to feel if he had a neck injury or something. It kind of felt like the muscles were tight like he had a knot in it. So I rubbed his neck and after a while it loosened and he acted perfectly fine. He walked around and acted normal then I came back later and he was spazing again. When he calmed down I gave him nutridrench and I'm not sure if it was a good or bad decision but I gave him half a cc of b12. Ive never given b12 to poultry but it always seems to help with the goats so I just tried it anyway.

I YouTubed duck seizures and that is what it looks like but less intense. I've had ducks in the past but I've never even heard of this problem. Could it be a disease or is this kind of thing common? Will it go away or is there anything I could give him, or should I just wait and if it gets worse put him down? If anyone knows anything about it and could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Had a bantam chicken have a seizure, I figured out that I had the area too warm. Gave lots of fluid cooled area down and has been fine since. Don't know if this helps. Good luck.

So I've been searching online and ended up seeing that "seizures" in ducks are more common than I thought. I found piles of different reasons that could cause them, but I didn't find much on treatment so I've kinda just had to wing it and hope for the best.

I'm not saying this is the best way to fix it but it has worked so far for me. I gave them a mix of water, injectable fortified vitamin b complex, some goat nutridrench I had lying around (has lots of vitamins), and 1 cc of ivomec. After trying to force them to drink it with a syringe, I found out they drank it happily out of a bowl. After the first dose the seizures stopped, but he was still off balance. But after giving just the water, b12, and nutridrench a few times a day, he is perfectly normal. He hasn't had a problem since and is back to running around and swimming in the pool and his appetite is back to normal. I'll probably keep giving the mix for a week then wean them off it.

Just thought I would post this unless anyone else ever had this problem. Again I have no idea what it was that fixed the problem, but the mix worked for me even when I was at the point I thought I would have to put him out of his misery. I hope this might help someone one day. 😊
