Converting Garden Shed into Coop for 12 Chickens

@TerryH . Wow, that is an awesome coop!! Thanks for posting all the pics, it gives me some great ideas! I love the PVC pipe feeders, definitely want to incorporate those. I had read somewhere that when they are adults that you won't want to keep the food in the coop at all times? We also plan on putting in a droppings board under the roosts for sure! We have a big shop building just 30 ft from the Coop, so will probably use it for extra storage. So for 12 Chickens, 4-6 nesting boxes?

I made 4 for our 12 .....except 4 of them turned out to be roosters.

4-6 nesting boxes would be enough 1 nesting box per 4 hens but I like to have extras but that's up to you and your budget. I will be building a coop soon for my 20 and counting chicken flock so how big is that shed coop of yours it's really nice. I am wanting something at least an 8x10 I am hoping to have enough to go bigger but idk. Thanks I am glad you could join us.

Terry H do you have any tips on building a coop inside a building ? I have a 40x60 machine shed and was going to put my coop in the corner about 10x12 and have a run outside for them great ideas on this post !

@Roada Red Thank you! We are repurposing drawers from a Captain bed(twin size), laid on it's side, it has 3 perfect spaces for nesting boxes. I'm thinking we have a couple of Roosters and aren't going to have 12 actual hens, haha but we will add another box if needed. :)
