I have a tom that really loves my hen and likes to be close to her at bedtime. She is busy hatching eggs right now. How old do the babies need to be to safely be around tom?
Probably right away. They aren't like lions or animals that eat their young. Broodies usually protect chicks/poults from anything. Toms and roosters usually aren't a problem at all.
If you're worried, keep an eye on them when they hatch.
