I'd love to see different coop ideas! I'm thinking of building another one. My first one is getting to small for all my babies!

This is my original coop:

Don't mind the mess! We are cleaning this week!!

That coop is adorable!! If you build a bigger coop, I'd think this smaller one would be snatched up quickly if you listed it on CL locally. Or just have two coops/two different flocks??? We have THREE coops and runs here - our big girl coop/run, our bantam coop/run, and our serama coop/run

It's a regular coop town.

I can (comfortably) do 7 full grown hens in this coop. But I recently got some more, we are up to 12! I got more than usual because I ALWAYS lose a couple in the summers, no matter how hard I try. So far nobody has had any problems and I am getting the feeling that everybody is going to live. Don't get me wrong I'd be ecstatic if that happens, but they would be really cramped in the coop. I have seven "babies" who haven't started laying but should in 2-3 months, but when they hit a growth spurt I may have some problems.

I know that the little tiny coops they sell in feed stores says it can hold 3-4 chickens, and my coop is easily 3 times bigger than those.

I'd hate to get rid of this one, I planned, financed, and built it myself and its held up pretty well. Do you think I could just make the run extend more? the only time they ever go up in the coop is to lay an egg and sleep.

I would NOT buy one of those little prefab models. I just saw another post here on the forum about someone who paid $300 for one of those that claimed to hold 6 birds and truly only holds 2 or 3 max of standard, adult birds. If you want to keep your present coop, I'd take out the wall with the pop door on and expand in that direction...like adding a room to a house. I don't know the dimensions of your coop (excluding the nest box section), but from the pics, it doesn't look like you'd be able to add enough roost space for 12 birds as it stands right now...

And of course you will need to expand your run too. If your run is really secure, and if you don't really get winters in your area, then you might try mounting roosts inside the run - cover/tarp to keep rain/weather off them???? That might be an option to remodeling/expanding.
