Like its 50 degrees here, 1am and pouring the rain and they will not get out. Are they safe doing that? Lol I'm afraid to go to bed and leave them out there.

Put some food on the edge of the pond and see if they will come out.  Do they have a coop they can go into at night?  You need to shut them in the coop for a week so they know where home is.  They are not safe in the pond any predator can get them.  I wish you luck and I hope you get them out.

My "Golden Girls" are like that with my creek sometimes, and bribery almost never works. Not sure how large your pond is, but I've found that a large stick swishing the water around will usually get them moving in the opposite direction, as will tossing in some small rocks. I hate to resort to scaring them but I'd rather them be a little afraid than be something's dinner. They are getting better about coming out when it starts getting dark now and occasionally it seems like they listen when I point and tell them to get out (or to get back in, when they climb out onto the neighbor's property on the other side). I haven't tried it, but a bright light might get them moving too...I know when I have to go out in the dark and take a flashlight they all seem pretty freaked out by it.
Hope all your babies are okay today!

Momma to 8 ducks - Rocky, Dexter (male mallards);  Ruby Sue (female mallard); Tony (male buff); Roxy (female fawn and white runner); Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose (female Welsh Harlequins); and 2 kitties, Maggie and Fuffy-cat.

RIP Bullwinkle and Turkey-duck :(

If they are anywhere in our yard all I have to do is rattle a feed bag and they come running. Nothing worked last night. They have a big cage they usually go to as soon as it gets dark. They stayed in that pond all night then came up to the cage and stayed all day. They are fine smile.png Thanks guys smile.png
