My broody hen has been setting on 8 fertile eggs for about 17 days.. I attempted to move her to a crate on day 3... In the middle of the night. It didn't work. She got off her non-fertile eggs that night and when let out in the morning went right back to her nest box. Well now it's day 17.. I'm fearing for the safety of these about to hatch chicks.. How do I move her safety. I have a new coop all ready for her an babies so she will be alone. I have a crate all ready to go. Her nest is already in a tub so I could eventually move her easier. Any suggestions to make sure she stays on her eggs. I'm afraid she's going to get up again like last time. Which is fatal to these eggs at this point.

With only four days to go I would not move the hen until after the chicks hatch. You could safely move this hen as soon as some of the chicks have hatched, but it would be best to wait until the hatch is complete.

That was my original plan. They are currently in a pretty small coop so it's almost impossible to block her off from the others. Has me worried. Once a few hatch I may not have a choice but I'll wait. Was super concerned about moving her right now!
