These girls are about 10 weeks old from Crackle Hatchery. I ordered the Happy Crackle package which consists of 10 pullets, 1 rooster, 10 rare breeds, 2 turkeys, 2 ducks and two geese. I requested Ne Hampshire Reds when I ordered but I am not sure what breed these are. I received what I requested for the other categories but this may be RIR or something else.???

There really isn't a breed called New Hampshire Red. The proper name for the breed is New Hampshire. If 'Red' is added to the name, it's a New Hampshire/Rhode Island Red cross. This explains the different shades of red you got.

They're not New Hampshires, those are a more orange color with black flecked collar and tails. They're not the dark mahogany of a true Rhode Island Red. They're production reds, which is basically a generic Red bird that's a great layer.

Thanks for the help. I got them from Crackle Hatchery and they do carry Production Reds. This may be what I have. Was hoping they were New Hampshire.

Just reading on the Crackle hatchery website. It says the production red is a cross between RIR and NH. I guess that's good news.
