I have 4 Red Stars that just turned a year old and 2 Easter Eggers that are 21 weeks and were introduced to our Red Stars about three months ago. They keep separate but have no problems (Eggers keep their distance and let the older girls eat first).
Our Red Stars have been giving us an egg a day since last September; so for about 8 months (one of them skips a day every month or so). Suddenly, we had one day with 2 eggs, then the next day NONE. It's been about 3 days now and NO EGGS. I don't think the girls are molting since they have all their feathers. They are eating and pooping and running around like healthy hens. We feed them layer feed, scratch, scraps and they have a very large run and coop but free range for half the day as well. Oh, we live in Arizona and we reached 104 degrees the other day but then 97 and 89 afterward. The Red Stars lived in this climate last year and did just fine. The coop stays cool and the run has a mister system and plenty of shade and water all the time on automatic timers.
Any idea why they stopped laying?? Anything I can do?? Anyone know for how long? HELP!
