Ventilation in the South

Yes, after reading Daddymchicken's post, I pulled the bottom board from the walls of my coop and fastened hardware cloth to prevent anything from trying to come through that 2-inch gap. It has been a dream to clean and with my vent in the peak of the gable I get air movement, which is a good thing.

Wish I could do that! We have one solid board running up and down. Do we'd have to cut into the wall and I think it'd be to much trouble! We actually used decking board for the floor on our coop, so there are little tiny cracks in the floor. It makes it a pain since the shaving fall through but I guess I could hose the coop out once or twice a year!

Coyotes and fences...

Wow! So glad I haven't had to deal with Coyotes. The window for my bedroom faces the chicken pen, one night I heard awful cackling sounds, almost like a Hyena. Sounded kind of like demons or something. Scared me to death! Figured it was just Coyotes.

I hear coyote packs out my windows at night. I don't have chickens yet, but knowing that they're here (have captured them on game cameras 100' from the house) I'm planning ahead for coop and run. Their howling and yelping can cause the hair on your arms to standup at times.
