Pellets with calcium and roos (and bonus questions)

I need help from the groupthink since it looks like my go-to brand Purina Flock Raiser pellets (20% protein) is no longer be made. I rather stick with pellets since my chickens seem to waste crumbles, not to mention seems like every bag of crumbles I buy is more dust that crumble.

1. Can anyone confirm that Purina Flock Raiser pellets are no longer being made?
2. I know calcium could lead to issues with my roo, how do I get around it? Currently I use oyster shells and my roo doesn't eat them (ok every so often he will peck at it)
3. What effects can I expect if I go to a lower protein food. Flock Raiser has 20% protein.
4. If question number 1 is true any recommendations on a good replacement that is around the same price ($17 for a 50 pound bag locally)?

Again thanks in Advance

I think Rural King, has some choice I have one down the road but they do ship free in some cases. I've never had too but it's may be an option.

I feed Flock Raiser, and it's in crumble form. I would also prefer pellets, but still like the Flock Raiser anyway, with oyster shell on the side for the hens. One of premier's feeders really does prevent spillage, love it! Mary

X2 on the Flock Raiser.

I hope it's not discontinued. I would prefer pellets too. I always provide the crumbles free choice inside the coop, but most days I also mix some crumbles with water and goodies like chopped apple, kale or other veggies/fruit to make a fresh "mash" (a good way to use all that powdery/dust). Put it on a couple of plates and let them at it (outside of course). They love it. I do have just a small flock so I don't know how handy that would be for someone who has a lot of chickens. I also have a Rooster so I chose that because of calcium concerns. So far no problems.

The best way (hopefully) to find out about a discontinuation is to contact Purina and see if they reply.

Nutrena Nature Wise All Flock comes in pellets, it's 18%, 40lb bag...

http://www.nutrenaworld.com/products/poultry/naturewise-poultry/naturewise-all-flock/index.jsp

Nutrena Game Bird also comes in pellets, and it is 21%, 50lb bag

http://www.nutrenaworld.com/products/poultry/country-feeds-poultry/country-feeds-gamebird/index.jsp

Mixing a 40lb bag of All Flock and a 50lb bag of Game Bird will get you a 19.7% feed if you don't want to deviate the protein level...

Price of the mixed product should be comparable to your $17 per 50lbs probably less...

That's a great idea!
Thank you.

Much thanks, we found a place close by, well closer than where we have been going that has Nuturena All Flock, they do not have the Game Bird but they do have MeatBird which we may use the next time we raise broilers (despite my objections to crumbles)

Attention - I got word today from a Purina Rep they NO LONGER make Flock Raiser pellets, just crumbles. Actually I noticed alot of chicken feeds are going that way. Below is the excat message I got from them

"That's correct, Orion. Flock Raiser is only available in crumbles at this time."

See if they will order it on for your, I know my local feed store will order in pretty much anything as long as their wholesale distributor carries it or if it's from a feed company they already order from...
