Hi, a couple weeks ago I got a Barred Rock Chick and I was told it was a female, but its comb is growing in faster then the others, so can anyone tell me if it is a male or a female
I know Barred Rocks have color difference between Cockerel & Pullet, which I've no clue BUT the comb is not red nor does it have any wattle, I'm guess Pullet
A boy would have more defined barring and wattles at this age. Pullets are darker and look more speckled - they develop more defined barring when older. I'm no expert but looks like a girl.
I'd say pullet as well. As JaeG suggested, the white in barring would be much more noticeable in a cockerel... This is my (now 7yr. old) barred rock hen when she was about 6 weeks old. Noticeable comb...muted bars.
