Buff orpington injured. But odd behavior before the injury.

Today, my wife tells me that one of our BO's was acting weird. When I went out to investigate, I saw that she was inside the coop door, almost standing guard, and would get her feathers all puffy and act big at the door as other hens would approach her. Unfortunately, she's also bloodied up a lot on her head/comb area. For the last few days, she's been making an unfamiliar, odd, low-toned "cuk-cuk-cuk" sound.

We have one hen that I know is the queen of the flock (we have 5 in our flock) who seems to be the one doing most of the aggressive behavior, for almost no reason.

Thoughts?

It almost sounds as if your hen is going broody. Her change in demeanor and attitude has caused the rest of the flock to regard her as a stranger.

That thought had crossed my mind too. This morning she's still in the co-op on the roost with the other 4 out in the pen acting normal.
