Can ducks eat raw eggs?

I also keep quail and while collecting the quails eggs I found one that chipped. I tossed it (we live on a large property) and the ducks chased it and ate it. They've also gotten into my basket before when I set it on the ground (before I knew they would eat them) and gobbled several up several tiny eggs before I broke up the buffet. Is there any harm that can come of this? I've seen that they can eat scrambled eggs but a raw egg shell and all?

Other than having birds that have a taste for egg (making it more likely that they will eat their own or others eggs before you collect them) egg shells can carry salmonella.
